11 days in the hospital

Kevin came home from work with a really bad headache and nausea on Nov.23rd.
He had bad headaches off and on for the remainder of the week. He worked
Friday , went to quick care they gave him some pain meds and sent him home. The next night he ended up going to the E.R., they did a cat scan and found a tumor. (Yes we were thinking, this is pretty much the worst day of our lives.) They then sent us to Valley hospital where they did an MRI and admitted him. The surgeon and Neurololgists reviewed his case and decide surgery was the best option to remove the tumor. We were told the tumor presented as an Astrocytoma grade 2. But they wouldn't know for sure until the biopsy was complete. WE had a very spiritual week. Our Ward Fasted on Wed along with our families and many Firefighter friends. ( We feel Very loved and blessed with such a wonderful support system). He had surgery on Thursday Dec 4th. The surgery was scary, the Dr told us he may not speak for a few days and he may have some motor function deficites. When he came out of the anesthesia he was talking to me. What a blessing!! He was joking and saying movie quotes and doing very well. The next day the physical therapists came to check his motor skills and function. He totally passed! Sat. the surgeon could not believe how well he was doing and cut him loose.(big mistake). He did ok at home then Sunday night he swelled up and had major pain so we went back to the ER. They kept him for 4 more days to monitor his swelling and pain. If you know Kevin this was like jail he is a busy body and never sits still. So being tied down with IV and wires this way and that was no fun. We had probably 300 visitors thru the hospital( Thank You everyone.) The Firefighters have been wonderful to take care of him and see that alll his needs are met. The very worst day was Tuesday when the biopsy results came in. Glioblastoma Stage4.(not what we were expecting).
I have to say I held it together up to this point. I can't tell you how it feels to have this kind of news. Kevin has had a few blessings. The Power of the Preisthood is amazing. We feel Very blessed and know the Lord has a special plan for us. Kevin is amazing and his faith stengthens me. We have a really rough road ahead but know that the outcome will be positive. He will start Radiation and Chemotherapy probably Jan 5th. Please keep us in your prayers as we know this is what gets us through the trials.

Hey Cynth! I saw your blog link on Alex's. I'm so glad you started one, I was wondering when everyone else was going to jump on the bandwagon. It will be a great way to Journal everything that is going on and to keep the rest of us informed too! Well, I wish I could help you more. PLEASE, let me know if I can do anything for you. I'm so proud of you and Kevin and the strength that you have. We love you and pray for you every day! I'm going to link you on my blog, I hope that is OK.
